These photos show what I can see from inside my home today.
We are blanketed in this gray, misty fog that I find wonderful. Sounds outside are dampened down, muffled. The visual world is concentrated, making your eyes focus close in, allowing only your imagination to permeate the distance.
We’ve been surrounded by these settled low clouds for a few days now and I couldn’t be happier. My mind wanders to stories of mysticism and magic, of rolling moors, deep tranquil lakes – save for hungry monsters all sharp teeth and shiny scales.
I always think to a favorite books on days like this. Fog banks instantly bring to mind The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, or the rides through Scottish countryside described in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series.
From from gloomy, miles away from depressing, not at all dank or dreary. I am at peace.
